Choosing the perfect backround for your website may not sound like such a big deal, but it most certainly is. Have you ever been to a website with such an 'alive' backround that you had trouble focusing on the content of the pages? Maybe you've been
to websites where the backround images or coloring is so bright you can't see what you're looking for without having a pair of sunglasses on. Even the opposite can be true, the backround is so dark, that the words are barely readable.
Picking out a backround for your website can be much like choosing curtains for the living room, or the perfet accent rug for the den. Just like curtains and accent rugs 'go along' with your rooms, you want the backround of your website pages to do the same go along with the scheme of things, not be the center of attention.
If you're creating a website that is for fun & family stuff, you should feel free to play around with your backround images. Change them for the seasons, the holidays, even have different backrounds on different pages according to the theme of the page. Got a birthday photo page? Go ahead and pick a backround with cakes and candles, or presents even. Planning on a Graduation page? Try a backround that has caps and diplomas for a nice setting.
However, if you're creating a website that is for business purposes, you might want to stray from the cute and fun, and set a more serious tone for your website. Blues, tans, and even some greens have been known to look mighty fine on many a webpage. Plain colors might be boring to some, but if you're interested in promoting your services and/or products, you want your visitors to notice those very things and not the big fluffy red and pink hearts you thought would be cute for Valentine's Day.
