Accenture, the $15.5-billion global management consulting, technology services and off-shoring / outsourcing major plans to double its headcount to 50,000 in India, Manila and China by 2008. Making the announcement was Sandeep Arora, lead executive, Accenture Delivery Centre for Technology in India, while inaugurating its 9th
delivery centre in Pune. Already, present in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai, the new Pune facility increases the number of Accentures Indian locations to five.
We will have a capacity of 1,600 by August-September at our centre in Magarpatta city. The Pune delivery centre will provide application outsourcing and systems integration services across the full range of technology capabilities. The centre has already started work on .communications and high-technology project, Arora said.
While, Accentures current centres are growing aggressively, th.company is expanding in cities where it is already present, as well as, looking to establish itself in other cities. According to Arora: Th.company has grown from 4,000 in 2003 to more than 17,500 now. Last year, we grew at 60% and expect to grow at 50-55% this year as well.
Explaining the significance of such growth, Rekha Menon, lead-India geographic services, said: India is our second-largest operational base globally. We have 1, 29,000 employees, of which 44,000 are based at 40 of our global delivery centres spread across 30 countries. Of the 44,000 employees, 24,000 are based in India, China and Manila, of which India has 17,500 employees - 13.5% of th.companys staff. We expect to grow in this geography to have 50,000 employees by 2008.
Providing a full range of services spread across its 5-key domains i.e.communications and high technology, accounting for 26% of its revenues, financial services, 22%, government, 14%, products, 23%, and resources, 15% - in India, th.company services 200 of its clientele from here.
