If you have been marketing on the web for a while, you will know that content is king. Not only do you need to have fresh content on your site evey now and then, you need fresh UNIQUE content to get ahead in search engine rankings.
As more writers submit their articles to article directories, even more site owners are publishing them on their websites. This inevitably creates a multitude of duplicate content on the Internet. Why should a surfer visit your site when he or she can easily find that same article else where, especially if it's related to a popular industry.
Seach engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN frown on duplicate content and will even penalize a website for having too much. So many serious affiliate marketers are beginning to learn to write their own content. And if you are promoting a niche that you have passion for, writing your own articles will be much easier.

Slowly, I began to take down most of the reprinted articles from my a couple of my niche sites, keeping a few good ones that I thought would be useful to my visitors.
Now I'm averaging one newly written article per week for each of my sites so I have at least four new articles every month. Plus, when Google sees you are constantly updating your site, you will appear as a quality resource and push you up the rankings (albeit slowly).

In conclusion, having fresh and unique content will not only improve return visitor rate but also help in search engine rankings. Of course when you have more return visitors, your Adsense earnings will improve, especially when your content is optimized with high paying keyword. This is something that cannot be done with free articles.
